Ryan Upward scored the only goal of the game deep into stoppage time to snatch 10-man Maidenhead a 1-0 win against Sutton, who also had a player sent off.
Magpies goalkeeper Carl Pentney was called into action on the quarter-hour as he dived full-stretch to keep out a thumping long-range strike from Craig Eastmond.
Gime Toure saw a shot blocked on the line and Roarie Deacon fizzed a shot inches wide as Sutton continued to look lively.
Maidenhead were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Mike Fondop-Talom was shown a red card for a high foot on Dean Beckwith but had their first noteworthy chance nine minutes later when James Akintunde fired into the side-netting.
Sutton substitute Jonah Ayunga brought a save from Pentney with his first touch, but the visitors then lost Eastmond in added time after he kicked out at James Comley.
That inspired the home side and Upward snatched them victory with a coolly-taken strike.
