IS it a bird? Is it a plane? No... it's Aubaman!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ready to turn superhero once more to achieve his dream of becoming the Arsenal marvel.

The £60million striker was famed as a master of disguise at former clubs Saint-Etienne and Borussia Dortmund.

Auba's goal celebrations for Arsenal have been comparatively muted so far. But all that is about to change.

He hopes to reveal a new alter-ego to Gunners fans in Thursday's vital Europa League second leg with Rennes.

Aubameyang, 29, planned to unveil it against Manchester United on Sunday.

But after scoring a penalty to seal a 2-0 victory, he could not find his costume.

He said: "I had a special celebration planned but I couldn't find my mask.

"I asked a member of the staff to put it in the back of the net but when I scored the penalty I couldn't find it.

"But no worries. Maybe next time."

Aubameyang was an internet sensation when he donned a Spider-Man mask to celebrate a Saint-Etienne goal in 2012.

Two years later he whipped out a Batman mask for Dortmund, with team-mate Marco Reus joining in the fun dressed as Robin.

And in 2017 he pulled out a specially prepared "Masked Finisher" hood to commemorate another goal against local rivals Schalke.

Gabon ace Auba was relieved to send United No 1 David De Gea the wrong way after seeing a spot-kick saved in the 1-1 draw at Tottenham the weekend before.

His tame effort in the North London derby at Wembley came in the final minutes as Arsenal missed the chance to put even more pressure on rivals Spurs in the race for the top four.

But Aubameyang, who stares straight at the keeper and does not even look at the ball when he takes penalties, had no doubts about putting himself straight back on the spot to take his crucial kick against United.

He added: "I watched my miss against Tottenham a lot. I knew that I made a mistake but I felt confident on Sunday and everybody said I would score this time.

"After Alexandre Lacazette got the penalty, he threw the ball to me and said, 'You have to shoot'. And I was ready to score."

Aubameyang now has 20 goal in all competitions this season to bolster Arsenal's prospects of a top-four finish.

He said: "We had two great games against Tottenham and Manchester United and now we feel it's in our hands.

"We know that it will be tough but we are really hungry to get back into the Champions League.

"That's been our goal since the beginning of the season and we know that we have two ways to achieve it — with the Europa League — but the Premier League is the first and most important way."
