Since the turn of the year, Liverpool's title momentum has been halted by a barren spell in front of goal.

Five draws in seven matches in all competitions saw the pressure mounting and if it wasn't for the Reds' watertight defence, they may have blown their chances of silverware.

Last season it was Mohamed Salah who wrote the headlines. Everything he touched turned to goals, 32 of them in the Premier League, 44 in all competitions.

The least prolific of Liverpool's world class trio of attacking talent was Sadio Mane, someway behind with 17.

But now the tables have turned and Munich was further proof that Klopp may have to resist offers for the Senegalese international this summer, after Mane struck twice yet again.

There is no reason why the former Southampton man will want to wave goodbye to Anfield, seeing as Klopp has made it a final destination as opposed to a stepping stone. Elsewhere he maybe just another player, here he can be special.

It was only November that he put pen to paper on a bumper new Liverpool contract, but that won't stop Real Madrid from sniffing around.

There were reports that claimed before Zinedine Zidane left the club, the La Liga giants were working on a deal to sign the 26-year-old.

And now he's back in the Bernabeu hot-seat, there is every reason why they might return with a huge budget to blow.

Mane's first at the Allianz Arena was pure class. Controlling the ball that dropped from the sky, he turned the onrushing Manuel Neuer before cutely chipping the ball in with his left foot.

There was a theme that has followed recent months on Wednesday night. Whenever Mane had the ball, Liverpool looked dangerous. They seemed to spring into life.

Salah looks like he's lacking confidence in front of goal, something you would never say last season. He has now gone six matches without a goal for the Reds.

His counterpart on the other flank though has a taste for goals and his second demonstrated just that.

Latching onto the Egyptian's cross, he buried his header to put the tie to bed.

Klopp can rest easy knowing that Mane is tied down to stay on Merseyside until 2023, he may just be the man to fire them to their first Premier League title.

Liverpool will find out their quarter-final opponents in Friday's draw.
