MANCHESTER UNITED are free to chase Jadon Sancho this summer, with no clause in his contract ruling out the move.

There were concerns Manchester City had stipulated in their sale of Sancho to Borussia Dortmund that the youngster could not be sold on to any Manchester club, with United the team the clause was obviously aimed towards.

Bosses at Old Trafford have been tracking 18-year-old Sancho for some time.

And while claims were made that City had inserted a ‘United clause’ in their deal with Dortmund, it has emerged that is not the case.

The Evening Standard report that Sancho could well be available in the summer at the right price.

United are said to be readying an staggering £80m swoop for the young English talent.

City sold Sancho to Dortmund back in 2017 for a £9.1m fee and have a buy-back option on the player.

That sale only came about when the teenager refused to sign a contract two years ago, forcing City to act.

It is claimed Manchester United were interested in taking him on back then - but Dortmund got the deal done.

Sancho has this season taken the Bundesliga by storm, helping Dortmund to the top of the table.

His nine goals in 38 appearances - plus 13 assists - have attracted admirers from across Europe.

Dortmund ideally want to keep Sancho but if United come in with a mega bid they may be tempted to sell up.

City have, however, inserted a clause into Brahim Diaz’s deal with Real Madrid, having learned from the Sancho deal.

The Evening Standard claim that City were aware that United could strike a deal with Spanish giants Real in the future - to land Diaz on the relative cheap.

But City don’t want their Manchester rivals getting their hands on a youth product of theirs.

And the clause - which provides disincentives to Real selling Diaz to United - was inserted in the £22m sale of the 19-year-old two months ago.

It outlines that City are due 15 per cent of any future sale of the player.

And that cut rises to 40 per cent if he joins a ‘Manchester-based’ club.
