CHELSEA are considering Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo or ex-favourite Frank Lampard to replace Maurizio Sarri.
The Blues hierarchy had pinned their hopes on landing Zinedine Zidane.
Could Frank Lampard make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge to replace under-fire Maurizio Sarri?
Owner Roman Abramovich has no desire to sack Sarri before the end of the season.
But there is a growing feeling the Italian is not a natural fit for the club.
Fans revolted against Sarri during last month’s FA Cup defeat by Manchester United and are now prepared to boycott home games.
Sarri will only go before the end of the season if Chelsea crash out of the Europa League and suffer a collapse in their battle for a top-four place.
But Zidane’s shock return to Real Madrid, plus Juventus coach Max Allegri’s snub, has left them seeking an alternative.
Nuno, 45, has been gaining growing support within the Blues board after leading Wolves up to seventh place in their first season back in the top flight and sealing an FA Cup semi-final spot.
But Lamps, 40, would be the fans’ choice, especially if he came with another ex-Bridge star Jody Morris.
