Everyone is using the same word to describe Spurs after last-gasp defeat at Liverpool

Viewers of the clash between Liverpool and Tottenham have flooded to social media this evening to take aim at Spurs, following their incredible late loss at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Tottenham

The two sides went head to head on Merseyside a short time ago, in their respective first outings following the international break.

Hosts Liverpool headed into proceedings desperate for a 3-point haul, having been displaced atop the Premier League table following Manchester City's win at Fulham yesterday afternoon.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are currently in the midst of a tightly-contested race for a spot in the English top-flight's top-4.

The victories picked up by both Manchester United and Chelsea this weekend saw the former move level with Spurs in 3rd, and the latter join Arsenal in 5th, a point adrift of their North London rivals.

As such, this evening's matchup marked a significant one not only for Liverpool and Tottenham, but for the whole of the Premier League's top-6.

Liverpool snatch it at the death

As a result, it came as little surprise to see a thrilling, drama-filled meeting played over the last couple of hours.

Liverpool dominated the opening 45 minutes, and were rewarded for their endeavours with a quarter of an hour on the clock, when Roberto Firmino got on the end of Andy Robertson's devilish delivery from the left to nod home.

Spurs grew into things as the second-half wore on, though, before pulling level through Lucas Moura 20 minutes from time.

But, just when it looked as though the matchup was set to peter out into a 1-1 draw, a result which would no doubt have gone down very well with the rest of the Premier League's top sides, Liverpool bagged a winner at the death.

After Mohamed Salah headed a deep, looping cross back across goal, Hugo Lloris dropped down to grab what appeared to be an easy save.

However, incredibly, the French shot-stopper dropped the ball, with his fumble having come off the leg of the unfortunate Toby Alderweireld before rolling agonizingly across the line to hand Liverpool all 3 points.

'Spursy'

As such, Tottenham have since inevitably been torn apart by fans online.

And one word in particular has been the common theme of a whole rake of social media posts.

As showcased below, the 'Spursy' title is well and truly back for Mauricio Pochettino's side, who, in the space 5 fixtures, have gone from Premier League title contenders, to at serious risk of missing out on a spot in the top-4.
