And the Blues' transfer ban means Liverpool have an advantage in the battle for Lewandowski's signature.

The Bayern Munich striker became the fifth ever player to reach 200 Bundesliga goals on Saturday when he scored twice against former club Borussia Dortmund.

Lewandowski is renowned for being one of the most prolific strikers in world football and the star is being monitored by two Premier League clubs.

Despite turning 31 in August, it would take a huge fee for the Bavarians to consider selling their striker.

Niko Kovac is expected to make wholesale changes this summer to try and reassert their dominance of German football and letting go a key member of his squad would not make much sense.

His ageing squad are being taken all the way by Dortmund in this season's Bundesliga title race, which is now back in their hands after yesterday's emphatic 5-0 victory.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are weighing up moves for Lewandowski and Dortmund prospect Alexander Isak.

Sweden international Isak is currently on loan in the Eredivisie with Willem II and was watched by Blues scouts last week against Ajax.

Chelsea's pursuit of the two stars is all dependant on the outcome of their transfer ban that's been imposed by FIFA.

The ban currently means they will not be able to sign players for the next two windows, but they have launched an appeal which will be reviewed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport later this month.

Jurgen Klopp would also be interested in reuniting with Lewandowski at Anfield.

The German managed the centre-forward during his time with Dortmund and is potentially looking to add a goalscorer to his Liverpool ranks this summer.

If Chelsea fail with their appeal against the transfer ban, it could hand the Reds an advantage.
