Aldershot down after Hartlepool draw

Aldershot were relegated from the National League following a 1-1 draw with Hartlepool.

The hosts had to win to stand any chance of survival and made the perfect start by taking the lead after 10 minutes.

Regan Booty’s low cross found Bernard Mensah, whose blocked shot fell into the path of Reece Grant to fire home.

Grant missed two fine chances to double the Shots’ lead either side of the break and his side were made to pay in the 80th minute.

Luke Molyneux found Gavan Holohan at the far post to head in for Hartlepool and seal Aldershot’s fate.
