Derek Adams ponders changes for Plymouth

Plymouth manager Derek Adams could be tempted to shuffle his pack again after Argyle’s winless run stretched to six games with defeat at Gillingham.

Adams made four changes for the trip to Priestfield, bringing in Kyle Letheren, Ash Smith-Brown, Jamie Ness and giving the impressive Lloyd Jones his full debut, but the Pilgrims still ended up suffering a 3-1 loss.

Adams said ahead of Monday’s visit of high-flying Barnsley: “We don’t have the luxury of making too many changes, but there are options.”

Oscar Threlkeld was not involved against the Gills due to a hand injury while Joe Riley is out for the season and neither Conor Grant or Joel Grant have played since last year.

Barnsley’s top scorer Kieffer Moore is pushing for a start after making a surprise return as a substitute in Friday’s win over Shrewsbury.

It had initially been expected that Moore would not play again this season after suffering a head injury in February, but he played the final 26 minutes against the Shrews.

Centre-back Liam Lindsay sat out the game, having also missed the win over Fleetwood, but he has returned to training and could return soon to boost the Tykes’ promotion push.

Midfielder Kenny Dougall remains sidelined for Daniel Stendel’s side after breaking his leg last month.
