‘Never want to see him in an Arsenal jersey again’ – Shkodran Mustafi torn apart following Palace defeat

Arsenal's fans have taken to Twitter in numbers this evening to take aim at Shkodran Mustafi, on the back of their side's defeat to Crystal Palace.

Arsenal left shell-shocked

The Gunners welcomed Palace to the Emirates a short time ago, for a crunch Premier League clash.

Unai Emery's men headed into proceedings buoyed by the defeats suffered by both Tottenham and Manchester United this weekend, results which handed Arsenal a clear advantage in the race for Champions League football.

However, what subsequently over the last 90 minutes in North London saw the top-4 hopes of the capital giants take a major hit.

A dismal defensive showing on Arsenal's part eventually saw Palace emerge with a 3-2 victory.

Christian Benteke opened the game's scoring with 17 minutes on the clock, before Mesut Ozil levelled things up shortly after the interval.

However, a horrid 10 minute spell for the hosts just past the hour-mark saw Wilfried Zaha and James McCarthur both capitalize on shoddy Arsenal defending to find the net.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did manage to pull one back with a little over 10 minutes remaining, but, when all was said and done, it proved too little, too late, as Arsenal failed to find an all-important equalizer.

Mustafi slammed

The aftermath of their side's shock defeat has unsurprisingly since seen a whole host of Arsenal stars singled out for criticism by the club's fans.

The likes of Mohamed Elneny and Matteo Guendouzi both disappointed, but no player has been more widely-targeted by the Gunners' faithful than Shkodran Mustafi.

German stopper Mustafi looked beyond-shaky from start to finish at the Emirates, with his needless mistake on the hour mark having allowed Wilfried Zaha to put Palace back in front, firmly turning the tide of the clash.

As such, Arsenal's fans have flooded to social media this evening to make their feelings regarding Mustafi's place in their side crystal clear, with some of the highlights showcased below:
