Guardiola is also fuming the Manchester United boss has tried to influence the referee before the crunch clash at Old Trafford.

Guardiola's City need to win to leapfog Liverpool in the title race, while United are desperate for the three points to boost their chances of a top four finish.

Solskjaer has warned United to prepare for an aggressive approach from their neighbours - and fears the champions will be out to literally kick them while they're down.

The Norwegian says Manchester City get away with fouling opponents high up the pitch and wants referee Andre Marriner to be strong.

Solskjaer said: "You don't get the yellow cards, do you?

"But that's just because they commit so many players forward and you can clearly see that they've got them in that mould of trying to win the ball back.

"They do make fouls. It's up to us to play through that press, be ready enough, play one and two-touch, don't give them time.

"It's not my decision - it's the referee's responsibility to do that."

Solskjaer could now be in hot water with FA bosses - because rules state managers cannot comment on referees and officials before a game.

Guardiola is less than impressed with what Solskjaer has said and is bemused the United boss hasn't done his homework.

The statistics make bad reading for United, who have picked up double the number of bookings City have this season.

United have incurred 64 yellow cards compared to 38 for City, while the fallen giants have also had four players sent off compared to just one for Guardiola's men.

United have also committed 29 more fouls and Guardiola admits he doesn't like the fact Solskjaer has suggested his team is dirty.

He said: "So we are going to make fouls to them? Did he say that?

"With an average of 65 or 75 per cent of the ball, how do you do that?

"I have never prepared a game in 10 seasons as a manager thinking about these kind of things.

"Never have I said to one player to make fouls to avoid something happening for the other team.

"I'm concerned about many, many other things about the game we have to play to beat them, than these kind of things. Maybe in the press conference after the game you can ask him again about that.

"I don't like it. I don't like it. No. My team is not built and created for that. Not at all."
