Arsenal's top four hopes are slipping away

Earlier in April Arsenal looked very likely to be finishing in 4th place this season.

At one point they were even above 3rd place Tottenham in the table.

However, a recent run of poor form has lead to the Gunners slipping out of the top four.

Arsenal are now 5th in the Premier League with just two games left to play.

Those games are at home to Brighton and then away to Burnley and are must wins if they want to catch 4th place, Chelsea.

Maurizio Sarri's side are two points above Arsenal and have Watford and Leicester left to play.

Arsenal players unhappy with Emery's tactics

The run of games that derailed Arsenal's UCL hopes took place within a week.

Unai Emery's side would first lose 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace on the 21st of April.

They then lost 3-1 away to giant killing Wolves on the 24th of April.

Finally, Arsenal lost 3-0 to Leicester City this past weekend.

Now, according to the Telegraph, some Arsenal players have become disillusioned with Emery's recent tactical decisions.

The report from the Telegraph cites decisions such as starting Mohamed Elneny next to Matteo Guendouzi and Carl Jenkinson at right wing-back vs Crystal Palace as particular causes for concern.

Emery's persistent backing of error-prone Shkodran Mustafi is also mentioned.
