Kyle Letheren an option for Plymouth

Goalkeeper Kyle Letheren could return as managerless Plymouth attempt to secure their Sky Bet League One status against fellow relegation candidates Scunthorpe.

Letheren has returned to training after sitting out last Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at Accrington having made just two appearances since March 2 as a result of a groin injury he sustained against Sunderland.

Striker Freddie Ladapo came on as a half-time substitute at the Wham Stadium after missing the previous two games through injury and will be in contention for a start.

Argyle, who will have caretaker manager Kevin Nancekivell in the dug-out following Derek Adams’ departure, have to either better Southend’s result against promotion hopefuls Sunderland, or win and hope AFC Wimbledon, who have a slightly better goal difference, lose at already-relegated Bradford if they are to escape the drop.

Interim Scunthorpe boss Andy Dawson has decisions to make with the Iron a point worse off than their hosts and knowing only a win will give them any chance of survival.

On-loan full-back Tom Pearce is available after recovering from a hip flexor injury, but fellow defenders Tony McMahon (hamstring) and Jordan Clarke (knee) are still out.

Midfielder Funso Ojo suffered a head injury in last Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat by Bradford and is a doubt because of the concussion protocol, although Matthew Lund is pushing for a start after making two appearances as a substitute following 12 games out with a degenerative bone complaint.

On-loan Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is expected to be fit despite suffering a leg problem.
