Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to strengthen his side after two transfer windows without a signing.

An ongoing problem for Pochettino has been finding a striker prepared to play second fiddle to Harry Kane.

Kane has spent two spells on the sidelines this year and, despite Son Heung-min stepping up impressively, his absence is telling.

According to the Daily Express, Tottenham feel Italian forward Cutrone would fit the profile of player they're searching for.

The 21-year-old has made 40 appearances for Milan this year, but 23 of those have come from the bench.

The arrival of Krzysztof Piatek has pushed Cutrone down the pecking order and he is considering a move away.

Cutrone is a product of the Rossoneri's academy and made his debut two years ago scoring 27 goals in 87 first-team appearances during his career.

Milan value Cutrone at £30m, which Tottenham may see as a hefty price for a player who will predominantly appear from the bench or provide injury cover.

The forward may also be loathed to leave Italy for the Premier League but still struggle for first-team action.

Milan are currently missing out on Champions League football, but just three points separate them from fourth-placed Atlanta with four games left in Serie A.

Tottenham are themselves trying to secure their place at Europe's top table.

Pochettino watched his side go down to nine men at Bournemouth on Saturday before an injury time winner from Nathan Ake deprived them of a hard earned point.

Their result means a win for Chelsea this afternoon would see them leapfrog Tottenham into fourth and a win for fifth-placed Arsenal would close them to within one point of their rivals.

Tottenham host Everton on the final day and may still need all three points to be sure of Champions League qualification.

Before the season's finale though Pochettino takes his side to Ajax where they must overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit in their Champions League semi-final.
