MANCHESTER UNITED will let Paul Pogba join Real Madrid this summer but could sign Gareth Bale from the Spanish giants.

That’s according to La Liga expert Paul Breen-Turner with Manchester United expected to be busy during this summer.

Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after struggling since returning to the club in 2016.

Bale, meanwhile, has regularly been reported to be returning to the Premier League after joining Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013.

And talkSPORT's resident La Liga guru Breen-Turner wouldn’t be surprised to see Bale and Pogba switch clubs this summer.

“I think there’s a little bit of poker going on and I think Gareth Bale will leave Real Madrid,” Breen-Turner told talkSPORT.

“I don’t think he’s going to play for them next season, and I’m pretty certain he will be in the Premier League, and it may even be somewhere like Manchester United.

“Manchester United are going to let Pogba go, that’s probably going to be £150million, there or thereabouts, to Real Madrid.”

Manchester United have been backed to sign Gareth Bale this summer by Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith.

"Gareth Bale would be an attractive signing,” he said.

“If he did join then you'd think Anthony Martial would have to leave, and might [Romelu] Lukaku leave too?

“Bale would cost a lot of money and would excite the fans. He can't get in the Real Madrid team but he would certainly improve United's attack."United have been linked with Declan Rice and they should be in the market for a defensive midfielder. Nemanja Matic has seen his best days.

"United will have to be quite shrewd this summer.

"The defence needs work. They conceded far too many goals this season.

“As a manager you want to know what your best defence is and I don't think anybody has really played well enough to nail down a place, although Victor Lindelof has showed some good form.

“You have people like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones who have been there forever; are they the kind of players who will win you the league?”
