MATTHIJS DE LIGT has been urged to snub Manchester United in favour of Liverpool by his agent Mino Raiola.

The Ajax defender, 19, is the hottest property in football this summer as he weighs up his future.

Barcelona and United have both been chasing the Dutchman for months, with Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus also keen.

Spanish publication SPORT claim the ￡75million-rated superstar’s representative has two preferred clubs in mind for his client.

And the Red Devils could be facing major disappointment in the race for the Ajax captain.

Raiola is overseeing all negotiations for De Ligt, and with the Dutch giants wanting clarification on his exit, he is reportedly close to securing his next destination.

Liverpool have attempted to play down their interest in the ace, but they are believed to be Barcelona’s biggest rivals in the transfer race.

Juventus are also believed to have offered ￡75m for him, while PSG are willing to match that fee.

Despite being in pole position to sign De Ligt, Barca are refusing to fork out the massive outlay to get him.

Due to the huge interest from around the continent, Raiola has allegedly increased the wage demands for the centre-half.

And it seems he ideally hopes either Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League winners or the Serie A champions will match them in order to make a breakthrough in the transfer saga.

Barca are holding firm, and they hope De Ligt’s desire to play for the club will eventually enable them to push through a move.

But today’s reports will make grim reading for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United, who have one of the agent’s other star clients Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.

De Ligt is set to start for Holland against England tomorrow in the Uefa Nations League in Portugal.
