TOTTENHAM star Christian Eriksen’s potential move to Manchester United is reportedly 'gaining strength'.

Tottenham star Eriksen has been linked with a move to Manchester United this transfer window, with the player’s long-term future up in the air.

The Denmark international, who has also been tipped to leave for La Liga giants Real Madrid with a year left on his contract, dropped a Spurs bombshell earlier this month.

He said of his Tottenham future: “I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay.

“But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan.

“In football you never know when there could be a decision like that. It could be at any point. The best thing is always for it to happen quickly but in football things take time.”

And Portuguese outlet O Jogo claim Eriksen’s move to United is gathering momentum.

The departure of the former Ajax star would open the door for Spurs to land Bruno Fernandes as his replacement.

Like Eriksen, Fernandes has also found himself on United’s radar at a time where Paul Pogba could leave.

Pogba is wanted by Real Madrid and flirted with an Old Trafford exit earlier this month by saying: "After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well, I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

"I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else."

Eriksen’s Tottenham team-mate Danny Rose would, however, like to see his pal stay in north London.

“It’s obviously vital,” he said. “If you look over the five years that the manager’s been here, Christian has probably played the most games and that says a lot.

“When he doesn’t play there are questions that we don’t look the same.

“It’s a pleasure to play with him, I hope he does sign. The lads in the changing room trust the people upstairs to hopefully get him to do that.

“We’ll just have to wait and see and hope that he does sign.”
