LIVERPOOL are not looking to splash out this summer but they still need to strengthen - and they could take advantage of the quality players available for free.

Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season, battling Manchester City to the very end in the Premier League title race before beating Tottenham in the Champions League final.

Liverpool are expected to run City close for the title again but they’ll need to bring in fresh faces to bolster their squad.

Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno have left on free transfers and Klopp is desperate for competition for his devastating front three.

And with stars running down their contracts all over Europe, there are a few bargains to be had.

Adrien Rabiot

The Frenchman is set to leave PSG and has been linked with most of Europe’s elite, including Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona.

Rabiot would add energy and dynamism to Liverpool’s midfield as well as a goal threat but central midfield isn’t the most pressing of concerns, with Liverpool well stocked.

Fabinho, James Milner and Jordan Henderson remain options to shield the defence while Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum will be challenged by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has returned to fitness.

Arjen Robben

The Dutchman has left Bayern Munich after a successful 10-year spell that saw him win 20 trophies.

Robben will turn 36 in January and he’s nearing the end of his career but he may have a few more years at the top level left in him.

The winger would likely be happy being rotated and would give Klopp an option out wide when Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are in need of a rest.

Hector Herrera

Another midfielder Liverpool could consider, Herrera is out of contract at Porto.

The Mexican bagged nine goals last season and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Herrera could be considered as a replacement for Adam Lallana, who is likely to move in search of first-team football.

Danny Welbeck

After Sturridge’s exit, Liverpool fans may not be excited about the prospect of signing another injury prone English striker.

But Welbeck has a point to prove after leaving Arsenal and if he can maintain his fitness he’d be more than capable as an understudy to Roberto Firmino.

At just 28 he’s nowhere near finished and he could emulate former team-mate Oxlade-Chamberlain, who revived his career at Anfield.
