REAL MADRID transfer target Miguel Almiron has said he’s “honoured” to be linked to the Spanish giants, after the Newcastle midfielder was rumoured to make a move to the Bernabeu this summer.
Almiron could be on Real Madrid’s radar this summer if their deals for Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen fall through.
The Newcastle midfielder only arrived at St James’ Park in January, but he impressed in the first few months of his arrival.
Now, Almiron has said that he’s “honoured” to be linked to Los Blancos.
But, he’s concentrating on playing for Newcastle and Paraguay for now, he’s revealed.
"No, I do not know anything about that,” Almiron said in a press conference.
"For me it is an honour that such a team [Real Madrid] looks at me.
"But I knew nothing, and now I'm focused on the Copa America, and then on Newcastle.”
If Real Madrid do decide to make a bid for the former Atlanta United midfielder, they’ll likely have to match what Newcastle paid for him in January, added Spanish media outlet Defensa Central.

Newcastle broke their transfer record when they signed Almiron from Atlanta in January.
The deal cost Rafa Benitez £21m, and he signed a five-and-a-half year deal at St James’ Park.
Almiron will be focused on performing well for his country in tomorrow morning’s Copa America quarter-final.
Paraguay are taking on Brazil, and will be going into the match as underdogs.

Paraguay qualified for the knockout stage of the competition after finishing third in their group - behind Colombia and Argentina.
They are yet to win a single game, having drawn two of their matches, and lost one.
Brazil, meanwhile, finished as group winners, ahead of Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia.
Tite’s Brazil are yet to concede a goal in the tournament, and are firm favourites to finish as Copa America champions.
