Barcelona are expected to be busy in the coming weeks as Ernesto Valverde looks to strengthen his La Liga-winning squad.

The Spanish outfit unveiled £65m signing Frenkie de Jong on Friday, with Bartomeu taking the opportunity to speak to the media.

The Barcelona chief was quizzed on a number of issues, mainly regarding potential transfers.

PSG star Neymar has been linked with a stunning return to the Nou Camp.

But Bartomeu has played down the likelihood of a transfer, despite admitting the player is interested.

"We know Neymar wants to leave PSG but we also know that PSG don't want to sell, so there's no Neymar case," he said regarding the matter.

"[Ousmane] Dembele is young, talented, offers something different.

"I consider him better than Neymar. He has so much room to grow and we want him to do it here."

Bartomeu was slightly less forthcoming regarding the potential transfer of Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid star has told the club he will leave this summer.

But it does not look like a deal is close just yet.

"Yesterday we met in Madrid with Miguel Angel Gil [Atletico chief executive] for Griezmann, I will not say anything else," he continued.

"I was not in the conversation with Miguel Angel Gil, our CEO Oscar Grau is here but I will not let him talk.

"There is interest in Griezmann, that's why we met with Miguel Angel Gil."

Gianluigi Buffon made an emotional return to Juventus earlier this week.

And Bartomeu announced Barcelona would be securing a similar deal of their own by offering a contract to former goalkeeper Valdes.

However, the 37-year-old is expected to be hired as an academy goalkeeping coach.

Valdes retired following his Middlesbrough exit in 2017 after making 28 appearances for the club.
