DIEGO COSTA is prepared to return to the Premier League.
The Spanish bad-boy is ready to talk to Everton over a stunning move back to England after two years away.
Costa, 30, left Chelsea under a cloud after winning the title in 2017 but is now looking at ending his second spell at Atletico Madrid.
The arrival of Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata’s permanent deal means Costa can leave Wanda Metropolitano this window.
And he is open to discussing a move to Merseyside to solve the club’s problem at No9 for boss Marco Silva.
Costa would go against the policy of Goodison director of football Marcel Brands, who is targeting players in their mid-20s.
But the Brazil-born rebel also scored 58 goals during three seasons at Stamford Bridge and won the title twice.
Atletico could take a hit on the £57million they paid Chelsea after Costa fell out with Antonio Conte and was frozen out by the Italian.
But he netted just three times in 20 games last season.
And in April Costa was hit by an eight-game ban for a red-card rant against Barcelona.
It was claimed he yelled at the referee: "I s*** on your whore mother!"
Costa still has one match left to serve of that suspension.
Meanwhile, Everton are thought to be keen on offloading flops Yanick Bolasie, Cenk Tosun, Mo Besic and Oumar Niasse, plus Kevin Mirallas.
