PSG have reportedly made a £27million bid to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

Last season the French giants were sniffing around the Senegalese international, but the Toffees managed to keep hold of him.

But according to L'Equipe, PSG are desperate to strengthen their central midfield, and have made signing Gueye a priority this summer.

The 29-year-old is under contract at Goodison Park until 2022 and it would be a shock if their opening bid is accepted.

Gueye is still rated highly by PSG boss Thomas Tuchel despite opting to sign Leandro Paredes ahead of him in January.

It appears there is a concern within the club that the team lacks pace in midfield, which has caught them out in games in Europe over the past couple of years.

Tuchal is said to have discussed the problem with owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and that Gueye's name has come up in those talks.

PSG have already captured the services of Ander Herrera on a free transfer.

Everton boss Marco Silva made Gueye a central part of his plans last season, working in tandem with Andre Gomes successfully.

And with Gomes signed on a permanent deal from Barcelona, Silva will be keen to develop that partnership still further.
