MATTHIJS DE LIGT is closing in on his dream move to Juventus after he snubbed Ajax's pre-season training camp.

Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has claimed the in-demand defender, 19, left the first-team squad in Austria, with Juventus completing the required paperwork.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain had been in for De Ligt, but the youngster had always said he preferred a move to Juventus.

On Friday afternoon, Verweij tweeted: "Matthijs De Ligt is no longer with Ajax on a training camp in Austria awaiting completion of his transfer."

He followed that up with: "Ajax and Juventus agree on transfer fee Matthijs De Ligt. Paperwork now in order. Transfer complete."

Juventus are thought to have offered around £58.3million for the Holland star, with £49.3 of that up front and the rest in add-ons.

That came after Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he pleaded with De Ligt to join him at Juve when Holland played Portugal in the Nations League final.

DONE DEAL

Earlier this week, De Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, confirmed an agreement had been made with Juventus.

Raiola claimed: “Agreements have been made with Matthijs and it is up to Ajax how the club wants to deal with this.”

The news of De Ligt's move to Juve will be a monster blow to Man Utd and PSG.

The two clubs had been believed to have agreed on transfer fees with Ajax - thought to be considerably more than that offered by Juventus.

But ultimately, De Ligt's wish to head to Italy was too strong for the Eredivisie giants, who have allowed him to leave.

Last week, speaking on his future, the defender said: "I am very excited about what could happen in the near future. I am also trying to stay calm, though.

"I view this as a challenge — that is the most important thing.

"There are several options and I really want to pick the best one. Logically, one option is better than another.

"Life abroad could be difficult, but I am still an ordinary Dutch guy, I am no different to the others. Perhaps living abroad will be more intense for me."
