Liverpool and Arsenal in pre-season battle

Liverpool are reportedly well-placed to sign free agent Bilel Hassaini this summer - but the 18-year-old is said to favour a move to Arsenal.

Hassaini was contracted to AS Nancy last season but is now on the hunt for a new club this summer.

Foot Mercato claim Jurgen Klopp's side are firmly in the hunt to land Hassaini in the coming weeks.

However, the winger is waiting for a concrete offer from Arsenal.

The Gunners are yet to formally approach the youngster with a contract proposal.

But should Unai Emery attempt to land Hassaini in the coming weeks, it looks clear the Spaniard will beat Liverpool to a move for the highly-rated Frenchman.

Lukaku and Solskjaer at odds

Romelu Lukaku and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's relationship is 'frosty', according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Inter are trying to negotiate a two-year loan with an obligation to buy while United want a permanent transfer with a lump sum in cash.

As the deal continues to stall, Lukaku's relationship with Solskjaer is growing more and more frosty, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Even in pre-season, Solskjaer has opted to not utilise the striker - with a mysterious injury ruling him out for the past two friendlies against Perth Glory and Leeds.

Maguire 'frustrated'

Manchester United target Harry Maguire has been left feeling "frustrated" by Leicester's stance over his £80m move to Old Trafford.

A deal looks to be on hold, with Leicester in no hurry to sell arguably their most prized possession.

Sky Sports man Kaveh Solhekol claims that Maguire is desperate to walk out of the Old Trafford tunnel each week, just as his footballing idols did for so many years.

"Harry Maguire would be honoured to play for Manchester United and follow in the footsteps of his heroes Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand," Solhekol tweeted.

Ceballos to seal speedy loan

Dani Ceballos' loan to Arsenal will be completed relatively quickly this week.

But Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane first needs to give the green light to the switch.

It is expected the Frenchman will approve Ceballos' departure for the 2019/20 season.

Ceballos' switch to the Emirates Stadium will be straightforward once Zidane gives the all clear, according to Goal.

That means personal terms and the player's say so will not hold things up, with Arsenal not having to worry about meeting potential wage demands.

Pepe in, Salah out?

Liverpool have ‘a long-standing interest' in Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, but the French side believe Mohamed Salah must be sold for any deal to go ahead, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

Castles claims Jurgen Klopp and co have spoken with Pepe's agent about a move to Anfield, yet he also goes on to say that Lille feel the Reds need to sell one of their top strikers in order to complete a deal.

"There is a long-standing interest in Nicolas Pepe at Lille," he told the Transfer Window Podcast.

"They have talked to the player's agent about a move. The feeling at Lille its that that deal will only happen if Liverpool sell one of their top strikers - and at Lille they believe that the possibility is that Mo Salah will move down the line and that Nicolas Pepe has been identified as a replacement there.

"There are obviously limitations on Liverpool from a financial perspective in that they have spent heavily on players in recent seasons, breaking transfer records on multiple occasions."

West Ham avoid Haller clause

West Ham have managed to sign Sebastien Haller for a club-record £45m.

And it is understood the five-year contract the striker has penned does NOT include a buyout clause.

Haller's representatives wanted the deal to have a release clause for Champions League clubs.

But the 25-year-old, bought from Eintracht Frankfurt, does not have an escape fee in his contract at the London Stadium.

West Ham have now signed four players this summer and it is believed they are not done in the market yet.
