If Lukaku fails to meet the deadline, Solskjaer will look to bring him back into his squad as it will be too late for United to sign a replacement.

Lukaku, 26, has asked Old Trafford chiefs to lower their £80million valuation for him so he can seal a move to play for Antonio Conte at the San Siro.

PLEADING

There is hope a deal could be done for £65m but it is now down to United to decide whether they will take a loss on the player they signed from Everton two years ago for £75m.

Lukaku — who teased fans by posting a picture alongside his agent Federico Pastorello with the caption “soon to be continued” — had been training on his own during United’s tour while his future gets sorted out.

He has made it clear he wants to move to Inter.

But so far the Italians have seen a £54m bid rejected and got nowhere near United’s asking price.

That has opened the door to Juventus, who are looking for a striker and are willing to sell Paulo Dybala to free up space in their attack.

TIME'S RUNNING OUT

Lukaku’s first choice, however, is to work with Conte at Inter and is hoping that a deal can get sorted in time.

He returned from United’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia late last week and immediately flew to Belgium to celebrate his brother Jordan’s birthday and see other family.

Now he has just four days to seal his switch to Italy.

Solskjaer’s pursuit of England defender Harry Maguire looks to have stalled after seeing an initial £70m offer KO’d.

SunSport can reveal that, as of last night, there had been no fresh bids from either United or Manchester City for the 26-year-old.

And defiant Leicester fans told Ed Woodward where he can stick his cash as Maguire completed another 90 minutes in his side’s 2-1 friendly win at Stoke.

'YOU CAN SHOVE YOUR £80MILLION UP YOUR A**E!'

Foxes fans taunted the United executive vice-chairman with chants of, 'You can shove your £80million up ‘yer a**e!' and 'Man U’s not good enough — Man U’s not good enough'.

Nemanja Matic has thrown his hat into the ring to be United’s new skipper — after being suggested as an ideal leader by club legend Bryan Robson.

The midfielder, 30, captained the side in the weekend win over Inter and admitted: “It is always great to hear when someone like him says things like that.

"Of course I am one of the most experienced players in the team and I will try to lead them the best way I can.

"They need to listen and I am here to help.

"I was happy to be captain here and who knows, maybe in the future.”
