Liverpool confirm the signing of former West Ham 'keeper Adrian

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of former West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old has joined the Anfield club following the departure of back-up shot-stopper Simon Mignolet, who left for Club Brugge in a £6.4m deal.

Adrian to Liverpool: Five things to know…
1. Liverpool have signed ex-West Ham 'keeper Adrian on a free transfer.
2. The Spaniard arrives following the departure of Mignolet to Club Brugge.
3. Adrian was released by the Hammers at the end of the campaign.
4. He featured in 150 matches for West Ham across a six-year spell.
5. The Spaniard becomes Jurgen Klopp's third summer signing.

The Belgium international had been a Red since joining from Sunderland in 2013, but was forced to play second fiddle upon the arrival of Alisson Becker last summer.

As such, Mignolet has sought first-team opportunities in his homeland, and Adrian becomes Jurgen Klopp's third signing this summer following the acquisitions of Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott.

The Hammers cult hero is much adored on the London Stadium terraces having arrived from Real Betis six years ago, but he left the club earlier this summer as his contract came to an end.

Speaking to the club's official website about his latest footballing venture, Adrian revealed his intentions to push Alisson to the limit, as well as an 'ambition' to win titles.

He said: "I'm feeling really happy; really happy to be here and to work in this great club and start doing my stuff on the pitch as soon as possible," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I'm very ambitious, I come here to try to win everything, to try to push Ali from the first minute and to make us better.

"Obviously I want to win titles. I come here to fight for all the competitions. We have many competitions ahead – we're going to fight for it and try to get them.

"I'm looking forward to playing my first game at Anfield and to win as many games as we can."
