HARRY KANE will eventually have to consider quitting Tottenham if he wants to start winning silverware.

That is according to former Tottenham marksman Dimitar Berbatov, who himself left north London in search of major honours.

Tottenham have not won a trophy since Berbatov was at the club 11 years ago.

Kane, as well as his boyhood club, have experienced a steep upward trajectory in recent years under Mauricio Pochettino.

But their trophy cabinet remains bare and the Bulgarian has urged Kane to put his own ambition first.

“Someone needs to ask Harry Kane about what he will do if Spurs don’t win a trophy this season," said the Betfair ambassador.

“Coming from that point of view, and I’ve been in those shoes, the moment comes when you play for a team for a while and you don’t win anything.

“At the same time you see other colleagues that you are playing with in the national team, and they are winning trophies.

“You get jealous, in a good way. You’re like ‘I want to be part of that’.

“You start asking all these questions and at one moment nothing changes, you change the environment, you change the club.

“It’s a tough decision because fans will be disappointed — and so will the coach.

“What is that ambition telling him? Stay here and try to win trophies for my club that I’m captain of.

“Or find a new challenge where you need to test yourself."

Kane's form over the past five seasons has seen him linked with moves as far as Real Madrid.

Tottenham have a tight grip on the 26-year-old who is the club's top earner and has another five years left on his deal.

But Pochettino and the club's players are growing frustrated with the club's inability to get over the line and deliver a trophy.

The Argentine suggested the club should change his title from manager to head coach due to his lack of input in recruitment.

While the likes of Danny Rose, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are all prepared to run down their contracts to seek moves elsewhere.
