Antoni Sarcevic’s effort enough as League Two leaders Plymouth edge Colchester

Ryan Lowe’s Sky Bet League Two pace setters Plymouth Argyle made it back-to-back wins with a hard fought 1-0 home victory over Colchester United.
Midfielder Antoni Sarcevic fired Argyle into a 57th-minute lead after the game opened up against Colchester.
Home playmaker Danny Mayor put substitute Dom Telford in on goal and in turn he set up Sarcevic to fire home from the right into the bottom left corner.
After a goalless first half, both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock as the second half started at pace.
Colchester striker Luke Norris forced a diving save from Argyle’s on-loan West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer, who was making his home league bow for the Greens.
At the other end, Mayor just failed to connect with Joe Riley’s pacy cross from the right.
In an identical counter attack Tom Lapslie just failed to connect with Kane Vincent-Young’s cross from the right.
Again Argyle countered with Callum McFadzean releasing livewire Telford down the left and the substitute’s powerful drive beat goalkeeper Dean Gerken but smashed off the post.
