Todd Kane eager to feature for QPR against Bristol City

Todd Kane is hoping to earn himself a starting berth for QPR’s Carabao Cup clash with former club Bristol City after making his league debut for the Rs at the weekend.

The summer signing from Chelsea came on as a second-half substitute against Huddersfield on Saturday and helped his new side battle back for a 1-1 draw.

The defender, who had a loan spell at City in 2014/15, said on www.qpr.co.uk: “Obviously I want to start Tuesday but in the bigger picture it’s down to the gaffer and whatever side he picks.”

Nahki Wells, Marc Pugh and Ilias Chair could also be drafted into the starting line-up if QPR boss Mark Warburton opts to make changes, but injured full-back Lee Wallace could be absent again.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is likely to be without the services of new signing Pedro Pereira after the Portuguese right-back suffered a dead leg in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Birmingham.

Fellow defender Jay Dasilva, midfielder Marley Watkins and forward Saikou Janneh remain sidelined by injuries but goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa is closing in on a return to action.

It remains to be seen if Matty Taylor is involved on Tuesday. The striker was left out of the squad to face Birmingham amid speculation of a possible move away from Ashton Gate.

Callum O’Dowda and Taylor Moore, who were also omitted at St Andrew’s having both started City’s Sky Bet Championship opener against Leeds, could be in contention for returns.
