McNulty, McGeady and Wyke on target in Sunderland’s win at Accrington

Aiden McGeady and Charlie Wyke scored late goals to give Sunderland a 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley in the Carabao Cup.
Boss Jack Ross made six changes to the side which drew with Ipswich at the weekend for the first round tie.
The visitors were on the front foot early on and opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Chris Maguire found Marc McNulty and he fired into the far corner of the net – his first goal since signing on loan from Reading in the summer.
Stanley were awarded a penalty when Conor McLaughlin brought down Jordan Clark in the area on 60 minutes.
Bishop sent Lee Burge the wrong way from the spot to celebrate his first professional goal, after signing from Nationwide Conference North side Leamington.
Sunderland should have retaken the lead on 76 minutes when McNulty rattled the crossbar from a corner.
However they did go 2-1 up three minutes later when McGeady marauded through the Stanley defence and fired home a superb solo goal.
In the 90th minute, fellow sub Wyke got the ball almost on the byline and fired home from a tight angle.
Sunderland’s assistant manager James Fowler was shown a yellow card as things got feisty on the touchline in the closing stages.
