Lincoln to release Shackell for the first time against Southend

Lincoln will welcome back Jason Shackell for the first time this season as the Imps welcome Southend at Sincil Bank in hope of recording a third league win from three.
The former Burnley and Derby defender was hit with a lengthy suspension after being shown a second yellow card and then confronting an official in City’s Good Friday defeat at Carlisle last season, and served his final game of suspension in the 1-0 Carabao Cup win at Huddersfield.
Experienced midfielder Lee Frecklington is a doubt, however, as his long-term groin issues have caused the former Rotherham man further frustration.
Any involvement from fellow midfielder Tom Pett has been ruled out, with his knee injury keeping him sidelined until at least September.
Winger Stephen McLaughlin could make the Southend squad after returning to training following an ankle problem.
Brandon Goodship (hip) could bounce back after watching last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Blackpool from the stands, although Jason Demetriou (knee) is doubtful despite also returning to training.
United boss Kevin Bond will potentially have to make plans for Saturday’s trip to Lincolnshire without defender Harry Lennon, who was forced off the pitch in the first half of United’s 2-1 Carabao Cup win at Stevenage with a head injury.
Southend skipper Mark Milligan, who suffered a severe headache after taking a ball to the head on Tuesday night, is a doubt and will undergo a fitness test ahead of the weekend clash.
