Inverness leave it late as Welsh penalty sinks Dunfermline

Sean Welsh’s late penalty earned Inverness a 1-0 victory over Ladbrokes Champions bottom club Dunfermline at East End Park.
The visitors looked set to be frustrated in a game of limited goal-scoring opportunities until Welsh struck three minutes from time, lifting his side into the top three.
The penalty was awarded following a handball by Danny Devine and Welsh made no mistake as he thumped it down the middle of Cameron Gill’s goal to snatch all three points for Caley Thistle.
Inverness also went close through Aaron Doran, who saw his second-half effort parried by Gill, but otherwise defences were largely on top.
Arguably the best opportunity of the first half fell to home midfielder Paul Paton as the interval approached.
The Northern Ireland international picked up Carl Tremarco’s headed clearance on the edge of the box but saw his effort fly wide of the target.
