MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been scouting Lyon star Moussa Dembele as they look to solve their striker shortage.

The Red Devils lost Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the summer window and failed to replace either.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have now been punished after injuries to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford left them severely lacking in firepower.

Now the Daily Mail claim the Red Devils had ex-Celtic forward Dembele, 23, watched as he scored in Wednesday's draw with Brest and against PSG on Sunday.

And they also had talent spotters in the stands to see him in Champions League action last week against Zenit St Petersburg

The hotshot, who came through the ranks at Fulham, already has six goals to his name this campaign and is the top scorer in Ligue 1.

United have tracked the former French U21 international since his time in PSG’s academy prior to his 2012 move to Fulham.

They continued to monitor his progress at Craven Cottage and then following his switch North of the Border in 2016.

Solskjaer was plotting a potential swoop over the summer but instead prioritised reinforcing other positions.

But that has backfired with the blows to Martial and Rashford.

And they are said to be fully-confident ace would have no trouble adapting back to English football should they make a move in January due to his past experience.
