Jose Mourinho is keen on replacing Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly monitoring the situation at Tottenham as he looks to make a comeback into football management.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure following a poor run of results as the club heads into the international break in crisis mode.

Pochettino now has to wait more than a week before his team takes the field and he can look to bring a halt to their recent run of terrible performances.

Tottenham suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Brighton last Saturday and that marked a horrible week for the club after they were thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

However, according the Daily Mail, Spurs is a club that appeals to Mourinho.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss has been out of work since he was shown the door at Old Trafford last December, but is interested in taking over at the north London club.

Mourinho is interested in the Tottenham job as one of a few roles and the 56-year-old admitted he is not going to rush back into management in order to secure a role that suits him.

“I have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity,” he said.

“And the right opportunity is one that is at the same size and the same level that I am as a manager.

“I have to wait for the exact right one.”

Mourinho has reportedly already rejected the offer to manager Benfica and Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.

And while Tottenham have no intention of currently parting ways with Pochettino, who is under contract until 2023, the 47-year-old admitted there are challenges he still has to address if Spurs are to rediscover their form.

“We need to find a way to stay together and be all together again and find a good dynamic,” he said after the loss to Brighton.

“The point is to try to be positive. The only way you can fight negative energy is to be more positive than it.”

Pochettino joined Tottenham back in 2014 after leaving Southampton and has been credited with the dramatic improvements seen at the north London club in recent years, which was exemplified by them finishing fourth in the Premier League, while also reaching the Champions League final last season.

However, the Argentine has seen this season’s campaign start terribly.

Tottenham currently sit ninth in the league and have only managed three wins in eight games.

Spurs have yet to win in the Champions League this season after being held to a draw with Olympiacos, before suffering an embarrassing defeat to Munich in their second game.

They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League Two side Colchester.
