Jose Mourinho brought Diego Costa to Chelsea in 2014
Jose Mourinho branded Diego Costa an animal as part of a word association game, where the likes of John Terry, Lionel Messi and Michael Essien also featured.
The Special One brought Costa to the Premier League in 2014 after being impressed with his ability at Atletico Madrid.
And the rest is history, with the Spaniard leading Chelsea to a Premier League title in Mourinho's second stint at the club.
He scored 21 times across all competitions as he spearheaded the Blues attack as the west London outfit walked a fifth Premier League trophy.
Costa gained a reputation quickly in the Premier League as a bit of a bruiser, able to power his way through defenders and always keen for a scrap.
It was this aggression that endeared him to fans and Mourinho loved his snarling attitude and only had one word in mind when asked to describe the 31-year-old.
In a playful interview with LiveScore, the Portuguese coach was taking part in a quick-fire word association game.
When asked what he thought of Costa, he instantly replied: "Animal."
The Brazil-born star was not the only one Mourinho was asked about, with a list of former stars he has managed and others included.
He named ex-Chelsea captain John Terry a “leader.”
Didier Drogba was hailed a “legend.”
Michael Essien and Mourinho shared a close bond, and he called him “son.”
Cristiano Ronaldo was most associated with the word “goal.”
While Lionel Messi was described as “magic.”
