Ronaldo is Instagram's highest earner, making more than Spanish rival Lionel Messi.

The 34-year-old in effect earns around £10.65m less with the click of a finger than he does scoring goals in Italy.

Even the world's most famous faces such as Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez and football rival Lionel Messi, do not come close.

In fact, he dwarfs his fellow five-time Ballon D'or winner who has made a measly £17.99m from his Instagram page.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid front-man averages £752,000 for an advertised post and is the most followed person on the site - boasting 186million followers.

But he's not just a social media giant, he also deserves the praise on the pitch as well as off it.

Ronaldo reached an incredible milestone on Monday when he scored his 700th career goal for club and country during Portugal's 2-1 loss to Ukraine in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The penalty which came in the 72nd minute of the game meant he joins an elite group of players who reached that amount of goals during their career, including Gerd Muller, Ferenc Puskas and Brazil legend Pele.

And what better way to continue celebrations than to post about it on his Instagram page.

Alongside a celebratory compilation video of his best goals, he wrote: ''Proud to score the 700th goal of my career. I would like to share with all those who helped me reach this mark. Today we didn't get the result we wanted but together we will qualify for Euro 2020.''

His team-mates may not have got the result they had hoped for, but Ronaldo will certainly be getting a lot more after sharing those words with the world.
