Dunfermline secure rare home win as defeat denies Ayr top spot

Andy Ryan scored a late winner as Dunfermline posted their first home Scottish Championship win of the season by beating Ayr 3-2.
Greg Kiltie, on loan from Kilmarnock, converted from close range after decent play between Ryan Dow and Kevin Nisbet to put the home side ahead in the 28th minute.
Nisbet had two chances to double Dunfermline’s lead moments later but was first denied by Ayr keeper Ross Doohan and then, from the resulting corner, headed just over the bar.
Ayr, though, levelled two minutes before the break when they found a way past Pars keeper Cameron Gill with the ball going in off home defender Lee Ashcroft.
The visitors went ahead in the 57th minute with a superb strike into the top corner from Alan Forrest – his sixth goal in five games.
Ashcroft then redeemed himself six minutes later with a fantastic volley from the edge of the penalty area before Ryan slotted home in the 84th minute after being teed up by Kiltie.
With leaders Dundee United suffering a 4-0 defeat at Queen of the South, Ayr missed the chance to move top while Dunfermline finally tasted victory at home.
