Colchester boss John McGreal could continue to rotate his squad as they look for their first victory in four games against fifth-placed Newport.
The U’s boss made four changes to his team ahead of their 0-0 draw with Crewe on Tuesday.
Courtney Senior, Luke Norris, Brandon Comley and Ben Stevenson were all recalled.
Tom Lapslie, Callum Harriott and Theo Robinson found themselves on the bench, with the latter unavailable this time as he serves a three-match suspension for a red card awarded at Crewe.
Newport manager Mike Flynn is also unafraid to ring the changes as his team remain unbeaten in six games.
Striker Tristan Abrahams could be one such change as he aims for a starting slot at the Colchester Community Stadium.
The 20-year-old replaced Jamille Matt at half-time as the Exiles faced Crawley, promptly scoring an equalising penalty and narrowly missing out on a second goal.
George Nurse and Corey Whitely also made an impact after coming on and could have staked a claim for a starting spot.
