Last-gasp Matty Taylor equaliser snatches point for Oxford at Portsmouth

Matty Taylor scored a last-minute equaliser to extend high-flying Oxford’s unbeaten run to 12 matches as they drew 1-1 at Portsmouth.
Taylor headed in James Henry’s cross to cancel out Gareth Evans’ penalty and rescue a share of the points for Karl Robinson’s side.
Oxford looked to be heading for defeat when Evans converted from the spot 13 minutes into the second half after Ben Close had been fouled by Elliot Moore.
Pompey had the better of the first half and Oxford goalkeeper Simon Eastwood had to be alert to deny Ryan Williams in the 16th minute before John Marquis’s rebound effort was blocked.
Ronan Curtis also saw his 27th-minute shot blocked bravely by U’s defender John Mousinho.
The home side had a nervous moment on the strike of half-time when Sean Raggett’s goal-line clearance cannoned off goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray before rolling wide.
Evans could have had a second in the 63rd minute after being played in by Marquis but the midfielder’s shot was saved by Eastwood.
