Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has today revealed his massive admiration for Arsenal summer signing Gabriel Martinelli.

A potential game of the season candidate was played out at Anfield last week.

Liverpool welcomed Arsenal to Merseyside, for a League Cup last-16 clash.

Both sides fielded weakened XIs, with their respective focus on matters in the Premier League.

This, though, did not take away from the excitement. In fact, the opposite eventually proved to be the case.

A 10-goal showpiece, during which Arsenal took the lead on 3 separate occasions, was played out, with Divock Origi's 93rd-minute equaliser having sent the matchup to a penalty shootout.

And it was the hosts who, in the end, held their nerve from the spot, as a solitary Dani Ceballos miss allowed Liverpool to take their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Klopp a huge fan of Martinelli
While Arsenal were sent packing at Anfield, though, a number of the Gunners' stars nevertheless impressed.

Chief among these, meanwhile, was Gabriel Martinelli.

18-year-old Martinelli has, despite limited playing time, enjoyed a superb start to life in north London, following his summer arrival from Brazilian outfit Ituano.

And the explosive young goal-scorer was on the score-sheet once again versus Liverpool, notching a brace inside the opening 45 minutes.

This made it a hefty 7 goals in just 4 appearances between the Europa League and League Cup for Martinelli.

And one individual who was certainly impressed by the teen's form not only at Anfield, but across his appearances in Arsenal's colours so far, is Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking in an interview with Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo, Klopp lavished praise on Martinelli, labelling the youngster as 'unbelievable' and 'so mature' for a player of such tender years:
