Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will demand £5million for out of favour striker Olivier Giroud when the transfer window opens in January.

The veteran French international has found himself out in the cold at Stamford Bridge since Frank Lampard returned to the club last summer.

Lampard has preferred to give Tammy Abraham a long run in the first team while Michy Batshuayi has also featured in all competitions.

Former Arsenal man Giroud who has scored three times in last four appearances for France is frustrated at the lack of action for The Blues.

He won’t be short of offers. Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is keen on reuniting with him at the San Siro and is ready to meet Chelsea’s asking price.

While Canadian outfit Vancouver Whitecaps have sounded him out about his plans and would like to offer him the chance of playing in the Major League Soccer.

The French World Cup winner is open-minded about playing in the MLS but his first option would be living in a major American city.

He would also find himself in demand at home in France with Nice, Bordeaux, Marseille and Lyon all keeping tabs on him this season.

Abraham netted his tenth goal of the season in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues struggled to get going in the first half and Lampard confirmed he had a chat with his star striker at half time.

When asked if he spoke to Abraham at the break, Lampard said: “Yeah, I did.

“He was slightly off it in the first half for his usual self but it was a tough game – there wasn’t much room in behind, there wasn’t much room to his feet and I said to him that sometimes the games can just be like that.

“He needed to liven up a bit but if you stick with it then you’ll get your moment and top strikers do. At the moment he’s proved himself to be that this season.

“The question is can he keep doing it? But what I see from his mentality and desire, I believe he can.”
