Kingstonian thrash League Two Macclesfield to reach FA Cup second round

Kingstonian eased past a hastily-assembled Macclesfield side with a 4-0 away win that booked the seventh tier club a spot in the second round of the FA Cup.
With their first-team players on strike over unpaid wages, League Two Macclesfield’s side was composed of loan signings and students from the affiliated local college team.
And it showed as the Isthmian League side, 71 places lower down the English football pyramid, put in a thoroughly professional performance, charging into a two-goal lead inside 11 minutes while Macc fans outside the ground protested against owner Amar Alkadhi.
Dan Hector hit the opener seven minutes in, gathering a punt from keeper Robert Tolfrey and finishing neatly.
And Hector provided the cross for Kingstonian’s second, brought down and fired home by Louie Theophanous after he outmuscled his marker.
The pain continued for the home team two minutes into the second half, with Kingstonian’s third goal. Theophanous’ shot was pushed onto the post by Evans but the rebound fell kindly for Dan Bennett to tap in from a yard.
But Theophanous was not to be denied another and he rounded Evans and rolled in their fourth to complete Macc’s misery 20 minutes from time.
