Arsenal manager Unai Emery is currently under intense pressure at the Emirates, and he could lose his job if they fail to get a result against Manchester United.

Arsenal chiefs have reportedly told Unai Emery he has until the new year to turn things around at the club.

The Gunners went into the international break sixth in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

They have only won two of their last ten league games, and are now facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Emery is under significant pressure to turn things around in north London amid reports that he has lost the support of the dressing room.

Reports suggested that Arsenal had lined up Jose Mourinho as a potential replacement for the Spaniard, but now it appears they will be given until the end of the calendar year.

The Gunners have a tough run of fixtures until the turn of the year, with games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United coming up.

And it could be the game against United which gets Emery the sack, as they meet on January 1st - the final day of Arsenal’s reported timeline for Emery to turn things around.

The club’s head of football Raul Sanllehi and managing director Vinai Venkatesham have told officials that there is no chance of Emery going anywhere any time soon, however.

“We firmly believe Unai is the right man for the job," they told Arsenal staff at a meeting.

"We are as disappointed as everyone else with both our results and performances at this stage of the season.

"We share the frustration with our fans, Unai, players and all our staff as they are not at the level we want or expect.

“Things need to improve to meet our objectives for the season.

"We are all working intensively behind the scenes to turn things around and are confident we will.

"We never take our fantastic support for granted. We hope we can all stick together and get behind the team in this challenging period, as together we are stronger."
