Ronan Curtis fired a brace as Portsmouth picked up their third successive win in all competitions in a 3-0 victory against Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena.
Kenny Jackett’s men took the lead in the 15th minute when John Marquis raced into the area on the right, skipped past the challenge of Jimmy Keohane and fed Curtis, who flashed a clinical finish past Robert Sanchez.
The home side were desperately close to levelling in the 38th minute when Keohane’s floated cross picked out Rekeil Pyke and the striker’s looping header flew over Craig MacGillivray but brushed the post and ran to safety.
The second half got off to the worst possible start for the hosts, with Portsmouth scoring on their first foray forward in the 47th minute.
Ryan Williams’ early pass to Curtis was swept into the net from 12 yards, another clinical finish from the frontman.
Pompey stopper MacGillivray brilliantly denied Callum Camps with a stunning save while Anton Walkes headed against the Dale crossbar before Williams completed the scoring in the 88th minute, applying a neat finish to Brett Pitman’s pass.
