Ryan Lowe pleased with Plymouth after beating Bradford

Ryan Lowe praised his in-form Plymouth side after seeing them climb to eighth in League Two on the back of a 2-1 win over Bradford City.

Byron Moore opened the scoring after five minutes and Joe Edwards made it 2-0 with a crisp finish after 25 minutes.

Bradford got back into the game when defender Niall Canavan turned in Anthony O’Connor’s cross, but were unable to find an equaliser.

Lowe said: “We always knew it was going to be a tough game and we said in the game Bradford are a good side and wouldn’t be coming here to roll over.

“They came here to be effective but when they change their shape at half-time you know you are doing something right.

“I thought some of the football we played today was terrific and some of the moves, passages and patterns of play, we could have had more goals – four or five really – and finished them off.

“But they put their bodies on the lines, cleared off the line and got in the way.

“Overall at the end of the day I am just pleased it’s another three points.

“I am just disappointed with the goal we leaked.

“I thought it was a bit harsh for us, an own goal and you know it’s ricocheted in, but when you beat top of the league 1-0 away and then third in the league 2-1 you have got to be happy.”

Bradford slipped from third to seventh after defeat and boss Gary Bowyer was left to rue their poor start.

“You can’t come here and give a side a two-goal start like we did,” he said.

“For the first couple of minutes we started off getting balls into their box.

“Then the manner of the two goals is not like us, the second one especially. We have to do better.

“To be perfectly honest Harry Pritchard had two great opportunities with his head where he has got to do better.

“That  is probably the worst first half without the ball in my opinion for us. It was not acceptable.

“We had a go in the second half, got the goal back and we had a great opportunity with Zeli (Ismail) and he has got to score.

“We certainly had the opportunities but for the first time this season it is safe to say not enough.

“Any team in this league is a tough game and we are disappointed for the supporters who travelled down here.

“But too many of our players were off it and when you have got too many, it makes the game difficult.”
