Jordan Williams brace sees Fylde through

AFC Fylde booked a spot in the FA Cup third round following a comfortable 2-0 win at seventh-tier Kingstonian.
A first-half double from Jordan Williams was the reward for an opening 45 minutes in which the Coasters created a number of chances, with only goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey keeping the hosts in it.
Williams pounced from the edge of the penalty box to smash home his first after a corner from Mark Yeates was not dealt with first time, quietening a large home support with less than 10 minutes on the clock.
The response was positive, though, with Louie Theophanous flashing inches wide from a difficult angle and Dan Bennett shooting just over, but it was the visitors who always looked sharp on the counter.
Tolfrey saved superbly from Ryan Croasdale and Scott Duxbury, before Williams struck again seconds before the interval. Tolfrey initially denied Croasdale but Williams was on hand to tap home the loose ball.
Kingstonian drew a first save of the afternoon from Sam Hornby soon after the restart, Theophanous’ firmly-hit drive palmed away by the Fylde stopper, and it sparked a much-improved showing from Hayden Bird’s side.
Reece Hall’s drive was also well held by an otherwise underworked Hornby, with the National League outfit managing the game professionally and progressing into the third round for the first time in their history.
