Ipswich were denied a place in the third round of the FA Cup by a late Coventry equaliser as the St Andrew’s contest finished 1-1.
Will Keane gave the Tractor Boys the lead six minutes into the second half but Callum O’Hare equalised to set up a replay between the League One promotion rivals at Portman Road.
Ipswich goalkeeper Will Norris pulled off a good early stop to keep out Sky Blues’ Max Biamou in the fourth minute.
Flynn Downes squandered a decent chance for the visitors when he fired wide from close range after being found by Keane’s cutback.
The deadlock was broken when Alan Judge did well to beat his man and find Keane in the box to blast home.
Liam Kelly agonisingly saw his effort cleared off the line by Luke Garbutt as the hosts searched for a leveller.
James Wilson was the next Ipswich player to make a vital block when he diverted Kyle McFadzean’s header off the line.
With time running out Norris procured a stunning stop to tip Kelly’s effort past the post.
However, the goalkeeper was finally beaten as O’Hare rescued a replay in added time.
