Tim Flowers proud of his Solihull Moors players despite FA Cup exit to Rotherham

Solihull Moors manager Tim Flowers was proud of his players despite watching them throw away a three-goal lead in their 4-3 defeat to Rotherham in the FA Cup second round.

Goals from Jamey Osborne, Alex Gudger and James Ball put the hosts in command but four goals courtesy of Freddie Ladapo, Michael Ihiekwe and a late brace from Michael Smith broke Solihull hearts.

“We started like a hurricane – it was a dream start,” said Flowers.

“We could have arguably capitalised on one or two more little bounces and had we been a little bit more thoughtful with our final ball we may have increased our lead.

“We’ve come a long way in two years but I said to them in there that I am not going to knock them.”

Rotherham boss Paul Warne said he had urged his players to tread carefully before the game and was not surprised to concede the way they did.

“We did everything we possibly could to warn the players of their threat and physicality and in all fairness, I was always worried about conceding an early goal because it gives them a right boost and to score two so early as well,” said Warne.

“We weren’t at our best but like I said I think the opposition were excellent.”
