TOTTENHAM are reportedly ready to cut their losses with Christian Eriksen and sell him in January - for less than £40million.

The Danish midfielder is out of contract in the summer and is no closer to agreeing a new deal.

This is despite an offer of more than £200,000-a-week being on the table for one of Spurs' star men.

But the Evening Standard is reporting that that despite Jose Mourinho replacing Mauricio Pochettino as manager, Eriksen is desperate to move on.

He is believed to want to pursue a new challenge in La Liga or Serie A.

Now chairman Daniel Levy is poised to sanction the sale of the 25-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in January.

There also continues to be speculation over the futures of defenders Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

MOURINHO SPEAKING WITH LEVY

Speaking about the potential outgoings, Mourinho said: "I'm not going to discuss these individual things.

"If I tell you that I didn't speak with Mr (Daniel) Levy about Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen, I would be lying. So, yes I'm speaking with Mr Levy about it.

"At the same time, I speak also with the players, with all of them. We speak and try to understand every detail but it's not something I'm going to discuss.

"The important thing, really, is (they are) great professionals, big relationship with Tottenham, amazing understanding of what the club is and what we need from them.

"So, all three ready to play, all three ready to forget the contractual situation.

"And that's the most important thing now because we're in three competitions. And these boys are great players and Tottenham people. I trust them."

NOT IN  FOR FERNANDES

One player who seemingly WON'T be moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium any time soon is Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes, 25, scored an incredible 31 goals in all competitions last season.

He dealt suitors a huge blow last month by signing a new four-year deal with a whopping £85million release clause.

But Mourinho insists that Spurs can’t afford to do a deal for his compatriot.

Mourinho told Sport TV: “We are a different club at this level.

“We are not a club that is going to make big transfers in the market, nor is it going towards players who are already developed or at a certain level of expectation, also economically.

“I would definitely say no because Bruno is a player of a level and a value that is not for us.”
