Blackpool see off Fleetwood in heated derby clash

Blackpool roared to a convincing 3-1 victory against Fleetwood in what proved to be a feisty derby encounter.

Pockets of crowd trouble led to the game being held up for a couple of minutes after Blackpool’s third goal, but the result sees the Seasiders leapfrog Fleetwood in the table and make it six unbeaten in the league.

The hosts went in front early on as Liam Feeney fired home his first Blackpool goal from 15 yards after Nathan Delfouneso’s cross was not cleared.

Fleetwood came close to a leveller when Paddy Madden fired across goal and narrowly wide after he met Josh Morris’s neat lay-off.

Less than two minutes into the second period Blackpool went two clear, when Sullay Kaikai curled in a free-kick from just outside the box.

Blackpool cemented their superiority in the 65th minute, when Armand Gnanduillet rose superbly to head Feeney’s cross in off the post.

Substitute Conor McAleny struck a late Fleetwood consolation from 22 yards, before Blackpool defender Ryan Edwards headed against his own crossbar in stoppage time.
